Dr. Simran attended the University of British Columbia, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology with Distinction and Doctor of Dental Medicine. While at UBC, she took on an active role in academics, research and leadership. She was the most awarded student in her dental school class, winning all Pediatric Dentistry awards as well as the prestigious Nancy Scott Memorial Award for Outstanding Patient Care.
During dental school, Dr. Simran found joy in connecting with children and valued their honesty, uniqueness, and vibrant personalities. In order to acquire the skills needed to provide children with the highest quality of care, she decided to train in the world’s largest medical centre. She obtained her Master of Science in Dentistry and Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center (Houston). She trained at Memorial Hermann Children’s Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Centre, and Texas Children’s Hospital, the world’s largest children’s hospital. These experiences strengthened her expertise in treating children with special health care needs and managing complex cases with expertise and empathy. During residency she conducted research on parent distress in the dental clinic, so she knows that a child visiting the dentist can impact the whole family!
Dr. Simran also remains involved with teaching as a Clinical Assistant Professor at UBC in the DMD and Post-Graduate Pediatric Clinics. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and loved ones, cooking, discovering new restaurants, and staying active through spin classes, yoga, and pilates. She also has a love for travel and is always up for a new adventure!
Dr. Simran is a member of the Canadian Dental Association, Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, British Columbia Dental Association and British Columbia Society of Pediatric Dentists. As a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, she is a board-certified specialist in Canada.
